Off to the States

Hey Everyone
Just finishing up things here in the UK before heading out to Las Vegas in the morning. Can't wait! We have been working like mad on the race van (not finished yet but we will be back in February to make sure it is complete before the start of the season) so having a life again will be awesome! Tomorrow night we should be camped out on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon with any luck, well unless it is cold at which point you will probably find us at a neighbouring hotel. After that we are heading towards Durango in Colorado to start the pre season training. I can only imagine what Elke has in store for me. I've been a bit lazy over the last few months and I have been getting my fill of junk food for these last few days before I am cut off again totally. I will keep everyone up to date on how training is going with a few photos again (sorry the computer here won't upload photos for some reason) once we are at Elke's.

Team Mechanic

Griffiths Racing is proud to welcome Lee Stott to the team! After 9 years as a bike shop mechanic, Lee is stoked to be stepping up into the World Cup race scene and working with Fionn throughout the 2007 season. Armed with his new Ice Toolz kit, Lee should be just the man to make sure Fionn is in top form to dominate the coveted series this year.

Visit Lee at BikeSport in Darlington, UK.

Van, Van and more Van

Day after day....working on the van. It is coming around now, about half done with the bulk head in, the bed in, holes for the window cut, boiler almost in and most of the plylining and insulation on the walls.
Jaymie Mart came down for a few days to liven things up and add a giggle or two to the day's events. Check out her site for her version of the 3 days here in Shropshire. We managed to take a bit of time out for a trip to the go-kart track again which ROCKED. It was super-slippy as it had been raining a little bit. We had the track entirely to ourselves so Jill, Jambon and I spent the entire time trying to drift the whole track. With a few backwards manoevers and a smile on our face we headed home....and back to the van. It is starting to look pretty cool and should be a welcome treat in the pits next season. With the garage in the back and wicked living space, we should be loving life on the road next year. We are working on the bunk beds right now....trying to find a way to keep Jaymie safely suspended above us for the entire night!
Off to London on Tuesday for a magazine interview and photo shoot. Then a quick trip around the country to see family before we head out.

Tommy

We finally have the new 2007 race van! Tommy is a long wheel base Iveco Daily- Red. We have been looking for a van for almost a month now, but we finally have one! Now that it is sat on the drive, we realise just how HUGE a 7 meter long van is! We started all the work on it pretty much straight away, well the T-cut and polishing anyway. We put 9 hours of T-cut into the van and only finished one side, so I think this is going to be quite the adventure. I have another 3 weeks to get as much of this done as possible before I head to the US to start training with my new trainer Elke Brutsaert.
