Birthday Fun

My birthday this year ROCKED! A good friend of ours invited myself, Jill and Jo up to Telluride to stay in one of her luxury houses for my birthday and do a bit of partying before World's! It was such a sweet place! Misty owns an accomodation management business in Telluride (check it out - Telluride Luxury Accomodation) and the place we were staying at is one of the houses you can rent year round while rippin it up on the mountain in Telluride. It was incredible! It had an awesome set of stairs for Jo and I to pad with a matress and use to perfect our "penguin" techniques. Jill and Jo got me a pinyata for my birthday....my first ever! I got excited and hit it so hard it cracked completely in half first shot!!!! We even found ourselves a plug-in disco ball and played some full contact Twister games well into the night! It was a much needed break from the stress of training and preping for World's! Thank you so much Misty, Jo and Jill for an awesome birthday!

Jeep #2

Things just wrapped up at the 2nd round of the Jeep King of the Mountain Series here in San Luis Obispo, CA. The event here is always a good one, cool track, awesome hotel and great parties. Racing was a blast! I made some big mistakes in qualifying. I ended up not jumping much of anything on the track and I was surprised to be only 2seconds behind the fastest ladies. With a 4th place qualifying position I drew Joanna Petterson in my first heat. JoJo is a great racer and a good friend, but I bested her at the end of two runs to move on to the semi-finals. I drew Anneke Beerten in the semis, but she managed to slip past me and advance to the finals, leaving me to battle it out with Tara Llanes for 3rd place. T-dawg beat me to the line in our first heat and I knew I had to step it up to knock this experienced rider into fourth. I put my race head on and sprinted my butt off and was rewarded with a 3rd place finish! My first podium at the prestigious Jeep King of the Mountain Events! You can check the race out on CBS Sports September 23rd, 5-6pm
Results (Top 5):
1st- Anneke Beerten - NED
2nd- Melissa Buhl - USA
3rd- Fionn Griffiths - GBR
4th- Tara Llanes - USA
5th- Joanna Petterson - RSA

Madonna Inn

haha. This is my room at the Madonna Inn in California at the Jeep Race. Every room in this hotel is themed! It is a surprise every year to see which one you get.

Catching up

Its been a while since I have updated. Sorry about that! Our computer has been down, so I have had trouble getting online. We are up and running now though, so hopefully I will get back on top of updates!
Since Crankworx things have mellowed out a bit for me. We spent some time with friends in Vancouver, then caught a plane out to The Canyons Resort in Utah for the 1st round of the Jeep Series. I always look forward to these events as they are extremely well organized and professional. With all the strange weather lately, there was some serious worry that we may have to contend with a thunder storm for race day, but luck pulled through and we hit the track in the sun! It was a good track and I was having fun on it in the dry. I drew Anneke Beerten first round and she bested me on run #1. I knew I had to give it everything to make up some time on run #2 but I pushed it a little too hard and crash. Unlucky. That left me 5th overall at the end of the day. Not a bad start to the series.
This last week Jill and I have just been kicking back in Durango, training hard and starting to get myself ready for World Championships in 3 weeks in Scotland. We are staying out at the ranch with my trainer, Elke busting our butts and burning calories at FAT CAMP. It's all good.
I just caught another plane today with my training partner Joanna Petterson. We are heading out to the 2nd Jeep round today in Cali. Keep an eye on JeepSports.com for results and TV times. I believe the first event will be televised on August 18th from 5-6pm.
